Sammie Gail Hedgpath, 67, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 12, 2016 with her family by her bedside. She was born on March 14, 1949 in Claremore, OK to her parents, Cephus Wesley Sourjohn and Ella Mae Wilson-Sourjohn.
Sammie enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and going to the casino. She worked in the kitchen as a Kitchen Aid in the Nursing Homes serving the patients, and making sure they all received their meals. Sammie’s great-grandbabies held a special place in her heart. They were her pride and joy.
Sammie is preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Parker; sisters, Jean Ann Blackfox and Kay Roberts; grandson, Riley and great-grandson, Hayden.
Sammie is survived her daughters, Mashell Smith and her husband Travis of Spavinaw, OK, Billie King and her husband Danny of Jay, OK, Johnnie Shuey and her husband Marcus of Jay; one son, Richard Hedgpath and his wife Susan of Jay, OK; two sisters, Sue King of Zena, OK, and Rosie Ramsyer of Jay, OK; step-mother, Wilma Bruce of Jay; 10 grandchildren, Megan, Damon, Maranda, Erica, Kendra, Colby, Chawaila, Richard, Jr., Milea, and Brittany Michele; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
