Judge Demetrius William Talbot, died Feb 10th, age 47. Born Dec 25, 1861, in Barber county West Virginia. Judge Talbot was born in West Virginia, but was raised in St. Clair county Missouri, until his majority, taught school and studied law, taking the law course at the Missouri State University, and later emigrating to Canadian county Oklahoma, as a homesteader, and was the county’s representative in the first territorial assembly, and later served as city attorney of El Reno, coming from that place to Miami Indian Territory some 13 years ago. He was elected as county judge of Ottawa county, Indian Territory, in September 1907. He was one of our foremost citizens, and his death is a distinct loss to the city and county and his family. What can be said of Talbot is, that he was a good citizen and an honest man, a loyal friend, a good neighbor. Buried G.A.R. cemetery, Miami Oklahoma.
