Nancy Sue (Shapp) Washington of Quapaw, OK passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Windridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Miami, OK. She was 74.

Nancy was born May 11, 1940 in Claremore, OK to Charles L. and Josephine (Porter) Shapp. She had lived in the Quapaw / Claremore area most of her life. She was Valedictorian of her graduating class from Quapaw High School in 1958. She later graduated from Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas. She was an accountant for the Quapaw Tribe and worked in Medical Records for Claremore Indian Hospital. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miami, OK.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Julia Ann Shapp.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Shapp of Des Moines, IA and James Washington, Jr. of Quapaw, OK, two daughters, Nina Burrow and Angela Yost of Miami, OK. She is also survived by a brother Bobby W. Shapp of Middleburg, FL, a sister, Sharon Blalock of Quapaw, OK, 13 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be Sunday June 29, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Quapaw Tribal Building, Quapaw, OK. Dennis Jennings will officiate. Pallbearers will be Bucky J. Washington, Bobby C. Washington, Michael J. Washington, Justin K. Burrow, Randy Darr and Richard W. Shapp. Honorary Pallbearer will be Richard W. Shapp, Jr.. Nancy will lie in state at the Quapaw Tribal Building. Interment will be at Stafford – Shapp Cemetery, Quapaw, OK.
