Maud Davis Jones was the sister of Jess E. Davis and the daughter of Alice B. Davis, the one time Seminole Nation chief.

Born near what is now Wewoka, Oklahoma, September 20, 1887. Daughter Geo. R. Davis and Alice (Brown) Davis (See sketch), (Seminole). Educated Emahaka Academy, (Wewoka Mission), Wewoka, I. T.; Haskell Institute, Lawrence, Kansas; North Texas Female College-Kidd Key College, Sherman, Texas. Married Madison C. Jones of Ft. Worth, Texas, Sept. 20, 1909. Children: Joycette and Madison C. Jr. Was instructor in Seminole National Schools, Emahaka Academy, Wewoka, I.T. Was Official Interpreter for Dawes Commission for Seminole Tribe of Indians during designation of the 40 acre homestead allotments. Favorite hobby the collecting of Indian Curios. Contributor to various newspapers and magazines. Member Yahika Music Club and Treble Clef Music Club of Okemah, Oklahoma. Baptist. Democrat. Home Wewoka, Oklahoma."

Excerpt from Maude's lengthy obituary from a Wewoka, OK newspaper, March 20, 1932: "...Funeral services are to be conducted .. here today and at the family cemetery three miles north of Schoolton where Mrs. Jones will be buried today. Rev. W. H. Hodges will officiate at the ceremony to be held in Wewoka, at the Missionary Baptist chruch.. . Rev. Frank Tingo, Indian Baptist minister, will conduct the last rites to be held at the family cemetery. the latter ceremony will be read in the Seminole language, which Mrs. Jones spoke and wrote in fluently as she did the English. .."
