Funeral for Bruce Reid Poafpybitty Jr., 41, Apache, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Comanche Nation Community Center of Apache with the Rev. Monroe Tsatoke and Lay Speaker Terry Lynn Ware officiating. Prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at Comanche Nation Funeral Home Chapel, Lawton, with the Rev. Sharon Gomez officiating. Mr. Poafpybitty died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, in Lawton. Burial will be in Satepauhoodle Family Cemetery, Carnegie. He was born March 25, 1967, at Reynolds Army Hospital, Fort Sill, to Delores Tonahcot Poafpybitty and Bruce Reid Poafpybitty Sr. He attended Apache Public Schools and graduated from Apache High School in 1986. He attended Haskell Junior College for a short term. He also attended Natural Resource Training in New Mexico which was helpful in his work with the Apache Fire Fighting Program of which he was a member. He also worked with his brothers and dad at the family garage. He was a member of the Kiowa Tribe. Survivors include two daughters: Whitley Dawn Poafpybitty and Cassie Nicole Aitson Poafpybitty, both of Sherman, Texas; grandchildren: Leslie Nicole, Nathanyl Cruz, Jose Jr. and Angelina Christine; his parents, of Apache; two sisters: Hankie Alice Marie Poafpybitty Ortez, Maryland; Tracy Marie Poafpybitty, Lawton; a brother, Thomas Graham Poafpybitty, Apache; a nephew, Rickie Lee Clark; nieces: Mindy Louise Poafpybitty, Zola Rose and Tallulah Ortez; special stepsons: Carlos and Anthony Carrasco, both of Sherman, Texas; a special brother, Johnny Burke Sankadota; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Burton and Kate Tonahcot; paternal grandparents: Ethelene and Jasper Sankadota, and Thompson Poafpybitty, a grandson, Jose Luis Angel Lopez; an uncle, Thomas Poafpybitty; and an aunt, Mary "Leno" Poafpybitty.
