Born in Edna, Kansas and died in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Melvin is the son of John Lewis Walts and Laura Bell (Cary) Walts. He married Alice Bernice Boyd on August 18, 1933 at Independence, Kansas. They had 3 children: Joretta Jean, Jacqueline Lee and Anite Florine.

Funeral services for Melvin C. Walts, 58, of Merriam, Kans., plant engineer for the Darby Corporation, were held Saturday, Jan. 31 at 10 a.m. at the Tulsa-Whisenhunt Chapel in Tulsa. Masonic services were held in the chapel in the Memorial Park Cemetery here Mr. Walts was laid to rest.

Mr. Walts was born Nov. 23, 1911, in Edna, the son of Laura B. and John Walts. He is survived by his wife, Alice of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Jackie Martin and Ms. Joretta Sower, both of Tulsa, and Ms. Anita Drake of Sumptner, S.C.; his mother, Mrs. Laura Walts of Tulsa; a sister, Mrs. Naola True of Miami, Fla.;a brother, J. D. Walts of Sapulpa; and five grandchildren. Relatives and friends who attended the services from this area were: Mr. and Mrs. Norman Fry of Nowata; Mrs. Cline Erwin, Mrs. Grace Fry, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Cary, all of Coffeyville; Mrs. Lawrence Wilmoth, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Cary, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Cary, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Cary, Mrs. Arlene Stine and Mr. Nat Goodwin.
