A telegram announcing the death of Kirby Lamb at Kansas City threw a gloom over our city last Thursday evening, January 6, 1910. He was the son of James M. and Mary (Ballenger) Lamb. His relatives went thither and returned with the body on Friday evening and on Saturday afternoon, the funeral services were held at the home of the deceased, Rev. W. W. Gresham conducting them. The remains were laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery, a large concourse of friends attending to pay their last tribute of love and respect to the memory of a much loved and honored citizen. Mr. Lamb had been taken to a private hospital only five weeks prior to his death and it was understood by his friends here that he was rapidly recovering and the sad intelligence came as a great shock to this community, where he had lived for several years and was well known to everyone. Everybody was a friend to Kirby Lamb. His genial presence and his great, generous, humanity loving soul will be sadly missed. Sympathy sincerest goes out to the grief stricken young wife, a bride of little more than a year, and the disconsolate father and mother brother and sister whose hopes are cut down as a blade before the sickle. "Tis hard to understand why one should be taken in the morning of youth, but somewhere, somehow, we know "He doeth all things well."
