Born in Ohio to a none circus family, he took on the persona of a South American Circus Artist. He and his first wife Chatita ("Chara" Escalante (1911-1985) and his his second wife Maricela Sanchez Hernandez used the name "Los Latinos" and included the hard driving Latin Music. His wardrobe consisted of the Latin American look, right down to the slicked-back hair Both of his wives were accomplished wire artists. Herber, as he was know. spent a few years working in Hollywood movie studios performing his tightwire stunts for circus themed movies. He also, worked as a stunt man. He was a wonderful showman working in Vaudeville, circus, nightclubs, Broadway and in Hollywood. For 60 years he walked the tightrope.He at one time was the oldest tightrope performer in the world, using his fake fall from the wire at age yo.
