Leroy is the son of William Henry Acridge and Esther J (Agren) Acridge. He married Martha Wright on October 1, 1946 at Coffeyville, Kansas. After her deaath in 1991, Leroy married Carol L (Nilges) Featherby on March 2, 1992.
Leroy enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Corp in 1943. He served in the Air Corp as a Bombadier on B-29 aircraft in World War II and B-26 aircraft in Korea. He then transferred to Military Air Transport in C-126 and C-132 aircraft and retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Major on August 31, 1963.
