June 17, 1859 - May 7, 1895

He was a Cherokee Indian outlaw and murderer. Originally sentenced to hang by Judge Isaac Parker, his skilled lawyer managed to get the sentence reduced to life in prison and was committed to Menard Penitentiary at Chester Illinois on October 16, 1886. He developed consumption and was pardoned by President Cleveland on March 20, 1895. He was given only one month to live, was released and died shortly afterwards.
